Packaging Guide

(Applies to all mail-in robot vacuum repairs)

Proper packaging protects your device in transit and ensures that BOTSMIT remains responsible for any carrier damage. If the steps below are not followed, liability may shift to the sender (see T&C § 5.2).

1. Materials You Will Need

Item Specification Why
Strong outer box Double-wall corrugated, at least 5 cm larger than robot on all sides Absorbs shocks
Internal padding Bubble-wrap (large bubbles) or EPE foam blocks Prevents movement
Adhesive tape 48–50 mm wide, heavy-duty Secure all edges
Plastic bag Antistatic or plain, size of robot Keeps dust from padding
Cardboard divider If shipping dock/base station Separates heavy parts
UN 3481 lithium battery label Printed 10×10 cm ADR compliance

2. Battery & Dangerous-Goods Rules

  1. Battery must remain installed in the robot vacuum.
  2. Charge level should be ≤ 30 % (press Start once; if robot moves, run until low).
  3. Do not include loose batteries or power-banks.
  4. Affix the provided UN 3481 (Lithium-Ion, Packed in Equipment) label on the box.

3. Step-by-Step: Robot Only

Step Action
1 Clean & empty dust-bin / water tank. Remove mop pads.
2 Place robot in a plastic bag to prevent bubble-wrap abrasion.
3 Wrap at least 2 full layers of bubble-wrap around the robot; tape closed.
4 Line the bottom of the box with 5 cm padding.
5 Place wrapped robot centrally; fill gaps with padding so it cannot shift when shaken.
6 Insert the repair request print-out or note with order ID.
7 Seal every seam with tape (H-tap method).
8 Stick the shipping label and UN 3481 label on the top surface; remove old barcodes.

4. Step-by-Step: Robot + Dock / Base Station

  1. Wrap robot as above.
  2. Disconnect dust-bag / water tank from dock; empty.
  3. Wrap dock separately in bubble-wrap; use a cardboard divider between robot and dock.
  4. Ensure neither part can move; add foam blocks if needed.
  5. Total parcel weight ≤ 20 kg and girth within carrier limits (DHL/DPD: 120 × 60 × 60 cm).

5. What Not to Include

  • Remote controls, spare brushes, power-cords (unless faulty).
  • Cleaning fluids or aerosols (classified as hazardous).
  • Original retail packaging if you wish to keep it pristine.
